Tensions Rise Between Israel, US

(MENAFN) Disagreements have surfaced between Israel and the United States concerning a suggested US initiative aimed at ending the conflict with Iran, a broadcaster reported on Thursday.

According to the broadcaster, the contention revolves around three key points: the future trajectory of Iran’s ballistic missile program, the transfer of enriched uranium to the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the relaxation of economic sanctions on Tehran.

Earlier reports on Wednesday indicated that a 15-point US plan to suspend assaults on Iran had been communicated to Tehran via Pakistan. These reports also suggested that Washington is weighing a temporary one-month ceasefire to facilitate negotiations.

An Iranian semi-official news agency reported on Thursday, citing an unnamed official, that Tehran had formally submitted its response to the US proposal through intermediaries.

The response reportedly contained demands to halt all attacks and assassinations, guarantees against renewed hostilities, compensation, and acknowledgment of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, according to the official.

The broadcaster referenced unnamed Israeli political sources stating that discussions between Israel and the United States are continuing, with potential modifications to the plan being considered.

An Israeli source additionally claimed that Iran “is already speaking the language of the final stage of the war,” while still presenting substantial demands during ongoing dialogues.
